Seasonal Price Increase

Over the Christmas period, there is a temporary price increase for the magazine.

Big Issue North is in the business of changing lives. We believe everyone has the right to earn an independent income – anyone who wants to sell The Big Issue can do so.

Big Issue North vendors are self-employed and buy magazines from one of our regional offices. They purchase these issues for £2 each and then sell them on established pitches in towns and cities for £4 across the north, keeping the £2 they make from every sale.

During the Christmas period, The Big Issue increases its content for seasonal ‘bumper’ issues, which leads to a temporary price increase for the magazine.

Starting in late November, the bumper issues go on sale for £5. The purchase price for vendors increases to £2.50, meaning vendors earn a £2.50 profit per sale.

More info:

Big Issue North Trust is a registered charity (charity number 1056041), which raises funds to provide a range of support for vendors, including support accessing services, opening bank accounts, help getting ID, home furnishing packages and projects such as breakfast clubs. We also work to provide vendors with contactless payment devices – and the photo ID required to use it; as well as being more convenient for our vendors and customers, we hope that this will lead to increased earnings.
