Worth a visit

Did you know, you can book a charity presentation by Big Issue North for your school, community group or organisation...

Last month, our fundraising officer Rebekah Cheshire visited St Damian’s RC Science College in Ashton-Under-Lyne. She was invited to talk to the students about Big Issue North, our vendors, and the work we do to help people living in poverty.

Year 9 and year 10 students had an assembly presentation, while year 8 students participated in a workshop. During the workshop, the students created motivational messages for vendors. Their artwork and messages were fantastic, demonstrating their creativity and enthusiasm.

Throughout the day, students asked insightful questions and sparked meaningful conversations about our vendors and how they can support people trying to change their lives. Reflecting on the day, Rebekah said: “It was wonderful to visit the staff and students at St Damian’s College and to talk about the community work Big Issue North does daily to help people currently living in poverty. I felt so welcomed, and all three student groups were responsive, inspired, and keen to find out about how they can help in the future. The outcome of our year 8 group workshop session was creative and inspiring, and I’m thrilled to take their positive words and art back to show our Big Issue North teams and vendors!”

Year 8 students created motivational messages for vendors. Their artwork and messages were fantastic, demonstrating their creativity and enthusiasm.

As a result of the day’s activities, St Damian’s RC Science College contributed a generous £300 donation to the Big Issue North Trust. This donation will play a crucial role in our ongoing efforts to support our vendors as they work to change their lives.

If you are part of a school, community group, or organisation that would be interested in having Big Issue North visit for a charity presentation, please reach out to us by emailing fundraising@bigissueinthenorth.com.
