Music Q&A: Flyte
Alternative pop band Flyte have just released debut album The Loved Ones and a video for single Cathy Come Home. With northern dates coming up, what's on lead singer Will Taylor's mind?
What informs your music and songwriting?
Books, films, England, public transport, avoiding the obvious, AA meetings, the weather – everything really.
How has the band evolved over the years?
We’ve gotten better at what we do and more confused about the world in general.
What are you up to at the moment artistically?
We’re making videos for our first record and songs for our second record.
What’s on your rider?
Socks, fresh socks.
Tell us your most embarrassing or surreal experience.
Having to dress up as Spider-Man for a children’s party, getting repeatedly kicked by all the awful children there.
What song do you wish you’d written?
Would probably have to be Graceland by Paul Simon. Or Happy Birthday – imagine the royalties.
What’s your favourite lyric?
“Love is an open book to a verse of your bad poetry… and this is coming from me.” I Can Change, LCD Soundsystem.
Flyte’s UK tour includes dates at the Polar Bear, Hull, 4 Oct, Chapel, Leeds, 5 Oct, Fulford Arms, York, 6 Oct, Neighbourhood Festival, 7 Oct and Buyers Club, Liverpool, 11 Oct
