End Credits: My Friend Dahmer

Hero image

Taking what for some may be a too sympathetic approach, My Friend Dahmer takes a look at the teenage years of one of America’s most infamous serial killers. Based on the graphic novel of the same name, it tells artist John “Derk” Backderf’s account of his teenage friendship with Jeffrey Dahmer. While it may be difficult to feel compassion for someone who ended up killing 17 men and boys, the teenage Dahmer is fantastically played by Ross Lynch. As he struggles with home life and school bullies he becomes more and more withdrawn and obsessed with road kill, bones and the inner workings of bodies leading to it’s inevitable conclusion but opening up a question of could something have been done to prevent it.
